I’m sitting here this morning awaiting the official start of Sketchbook Revival 2025. I’m not sure where this link will take you unless you’re already registered for the program. A more helpful link if you’re curious but not yet registered might be this one: SBR 2025 Syllabus.
I haven’t yet decided on any particular course of action for choosing the programs I’ll be watching. Most likely I’ll start with something simple — an easy sketching exercise, or maybe even a bit of slow drawing.
Really, I’m not feeling too creative or artistic right now. My eye is bothering me. If anything, having this “implant” seems to have made the vision problem temporarily worse, so I’m not too comfortable with the thought of drawing or painting. This is why I want something simple, something that doesn’t require keen, careful observation, something that’s designed more for relaxation and a somewhat meditative approach to art.
I do have my sketchbook ready, a new set of gansai, my gorgeous Sennelier oil pastels, and, of course, my graphite drawing supplies. These supplies will probably be all that I use for the Sketchbook Revival projects I choose. I don’t think I want to try any collage, definitely nothing with acrylics, and probably no colored pencil projects — although I might be open to using watercolor pencils.
So, I’m off to browse the syllabus, check out the “Bingefest Hub” — the first link — and start making decisions about where I’ll go and what I’ll do.
Ooh! Sennelier oil pastels! I might need to buy myself some for my birthday! Hope your eye is feeling better.
