Although this painting might look like others I’ve done, there were many things different about this one

To Paint or Not to Paint…?
It’s good, of course, to be so enthusiastic about a particular medium, but it’s also occurred to me that maybe there’s a downside to having finally “found my niche” in the art world.
Colors I Love
Art should make us happy, and this painting does that for me. I used colors I love, painted a scene from my heart, and I’m delighted to share it here.
When I Paint My Masterpiece
I was the girl who couldn’t draw a straight line, remember? But I had other talents. I wrote. I played music. I danced. I sang. A masterpiece, in my opinion, could be the pinnacle of any creative passion, not just painting.
Getting Carried Away
…after painting my first mountain range today, I had no idea what to do with the rest of the canvas, so, yep. I just kept painting more mountains.
I Must Be a Real Artist Now
I may not be a great artist, but I’m loving what I’m doing.
Poor Mr. Partridge
I have a feeling there will probably be lots of partridges flying around today, as well as many more sitting contentedly in their pear trees, and I hope you’ll let Poor Mr. Partridge join the flock.
Another Day…Another Mountain
I was asking myself earlier why I keep painting mountains when they are such a struggle for me. That, of course, is exactly why I keep painting them.
Slowly but Surely
With each painting I do, I realize how far I’ve come in a very short time, and yet I also realize how very far I have to go.
If At First…
…I think I spent more time wiping off and scrubbing away paint than I did in actually putting paint on the canvas
Oops!
I really loved this painting…until the giant tree happened.
What I’ve Learned
…one week isn’t long, but I have already learned a lot.
It Had to Happen
I couldn’t get the shapes right. I couldn’t get the colors right. I couldn’t figure out where the lights and darks should go.
“I Get By with a Little Help From My Friends”
…the online art community has room for each of us — no matter what our skill level might be.
Did I Do That?
I love oil painting because I’m so surprised — and pleased — with the results I’ve achieved.
Skipping School
Teaching myself means I have choices…but how far does that freedom extend?
How to Make Mud
I should know better…right?
So Happy to Be Doing Art Again
I feel as if I’ve found my artistic calling and passion.

It’s September now, and yes, it feels like going “back to school”. My daughter has returned home to sunny San … More
