I was truly surprised to find this question included in the “Ultimate Art Quiz” from Britannica. Is there anyone in this wide world of art who doesn’t know that Vincent Van Gogh painted “The Starry Night“?
Much has been written about this famous painting — far too much to share here. I will, however, share a few links you might find interesting if you’d like to learn more about Vincent Van Gogh and “The Starry Night”. It was painted in 1889 while he was at the asylum in St. Remy.
I’ve been fortunate enough to see “The Starry Night” on exhibit. It is truly breath-taking. If you ever have a chance to view it, take it. It is an unforgettable experience. The painting is now owned by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Wow saw this painting on visit our there but didn’t realize he was in an asylum.

I replied to this earlier, but I think my response was misplaced. Yes, he painted several versions of “starry night” while in the asylum at St. Remy.
