Yesterday was a very busy day. I was out of town for most of it, then had to drive 90 miles home in pouring rain. Not fun. By the time I got home, I was tired, stressed out, and in no mood to do much of anything.
I had already looked at my two “prompt words” for the Inktober challenge, and after the highly-detailed — and time-consuming — sea dragon I’d drawn on Tuesday, I knew that whatever I did for Wednesday, I wanted it to be simple.
My prompt words had me momentarily puzzled.
LONG
YOUR ZODIAC SIGN
Now, I jokingly tell people that I was born under the sign of the turkey (I was a Thanksgiving Day baby) but my actual astrological sign is Sagittarius. Yikes! I had visions of centaurs trotting through my head! And even if I could draw one — which at that point I seriously doubted — how would I utilize the long prompt?
“Keep it simple. Keep it simple.” I chanted that mantra and reduced Sagittarius to its bare minimum. The archer. A bow. A longbow.
It worked for me! And after resting up a bit last night, I grabbed my ink pens and sketch book and did this quick — and simple — drawing.
Then, as rain once again poured down, I closed my sketchbook and said good-night. It was a long day, but a good one. I hope you had a great day, too!
